Update

 Good evening

I have not blogged in a while. It was becoming a screed. I have had to take a break to take care of my own mental health. I am back and I am going to try to be less angry now that I am better medicated and more logical and dedicated to science fiction rather than politics.

However, we have a fascist regime now, a right-wing fascist regime, and science fiction is still relevant to politics, so this blog will at times be political, however much I may attempt to re-orient it.

As far as anarchism goes, I still consider myself an anarchist and an anti-fascist but in the last few years I have had something of a crisis of faith in the goodness of humanity and I am more skeptical/cynical these days about humans' ability to organize themselves in a just way and not give into emotional triggers, moral panics, religious hysteria, etc. Basically I find myself at odds with socialists over my attention to culture war matters. I was trained originally as an anthropologist and I work as a social worker. I think it's all cultural.

My experiences infiltrating Kerry Cassidy's "Project Camelot" websphere  ( a right wing web space dedicated to racist and anti-semitic coded conspiracy theories ) has made me much more concerned about the racism, the homophobia, the religious bigotry, the anti-semitism of the Average Person. Average Person bigotry is just as dangerous as that of the elites,  in my view, and that makes me something of a bad socialist. I have learned to distrust the average person.

So I'm not much interested in writing about real world politics as I used to be, as I am not sure there are democratic solutions to the Religious Right. Even if we had universal healthcare, universal childcare, free everything, the evangelicals would still want to take over everything, and emotionally driven right wing fanatic conspiracy theorists would still be emotionally driven right wing conspiracy theorists.

Philadelphia Science Fiction Convention is upcoming and I am going to try to revive this blog, first by importing some articles from my older blog, Bartolome's Vault of Forgotten Science Fiction.

Hopefully this time it will be a more "fun" blog. Enjoy the reviews from 2015, and the "Squatch/Solomon Berg Saga" link!
